RED Digital Cinema Camera
Well, I doubt this is of any interest to anybody here, but I have just taken delivery of RED #455. It's got the basic production package and several other accessories. I had some plans for this cam, but the plans have changed... just wanted to see if there were any interested parties on here before I sell it on stupid ol' eBay.
If anybody is interested, let me know and I'll post more info about the package. You know you guys want to shoot weddings in 4k!

Hi Andrew!!!
how much you selling it for?

Re: RED Digital Cinema Camera
Hey Julie,
I currently have an offer for $32k from a Kuwaiti gentleman. He really wants the camera, but I'd prefer to keep it in the states just so I can avoid the hassles of an international transaction. We'll see!

Re: RED Digital Cinema Camera
Hah, I wish! Our RED is up for sale and we've not settled on A-minima's (probably actually do LTR54's). In the meantime we do have Bolex's, Canon 814 XL-S's, and Canon A1's available... I've never wanted to get into rentals, though.
Hey Jones, I've got some thoughts I'd like to run by you sometime. Drop me a message when you get a chance... maybe we can set up a phone appointment.

Re: RED Digital Cinema Camera
$32k... let's see... I'll take 5!!! Ya, I think your best bet is the Kuwaiti guy
You know what's funny? The RED office is right down the street from our studio... I could literally walk there.

Re: RED Digital Cinema Camera
Oh come on, Julie... you know you want it! The Kuwaiti guy seems cool and all, but I don't know what a $40k wire transfer from Kuwait is going to look like to our wonderful government. Just makes me nervous.
Right next to RED, huh? Have you taken a tour of the facility yet?

Re: RED Digital Cinema Camera
Ha!! One day I called them and said, can I bring over my team to see the demo because the lines at NAB are always too long and they said... um, no. I have talked to the marketing guy a couple times though. he spoke at our pva and the LAFCPUG meeting. So if I can take you up on Portal Films Mortgage Company and give you a monthly payment for the next 30 years, I might be able to swing it
No seriously... I'm going to look into the rental market here in s. cal. if there is a huge demand for it, and we could rent it out, then maybe we can figure something out. There are a ton of rental houses here though, so not sure. I'll be in touch this week.

Re: RED Digital Cinema Camera
Sounds good, Julie. I knew you couldn't say no to the RED! Since the market value is so high right now, and we'll get so little use out of it over the coming months, we've been looking for a way that makes sense for us to keep it. I've been talking to a couple rental companies in NYC. We may still keep the camera yet, but we'll just have to see! Definitely let me know what you're thinking.
-Andy
P.S. the Portal Films Mortgage Company has extremely high interest rates... I wouldn't go with them!

Re: RED Digital Cinema Camera
Alright, we've decided to keep our RED. Sorry, Julie... I know you wanted it!
We're making it available for rentals. Anyone interested, feel free to contact me for more info.
